In true sense Apple’s Apple TV is a digital media receiver, which can be used to connect a home theatre system to your computer network for retrieving music files, pictures, downloading videos or movies. The Apple TV is designed and sold by Apple corp. as extension to its iTune store. The idea is to play or listen digital content coming from iTune to bigger TV or high definition TV. This is purely for the purpose of entertainment. Apple’s digital media receiver (Apple TV) can store digital content on its internal hard disk or can pass digital content to entertainment outlets.
In order to connect Apple TV to television, video or other equipments are done through either HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) or component video connections. Apple TV can also connect through Ethernet cable or wirelessly through the standard IEEE 802.11b, g, and n wireless protocols. In sync mode Apple TV works much like an iPod, once connected with computer, it will sync up with iTune library transfer the digital content to its internal hard disk. Then onwards it will stream digital content to other devices such as television.
